Exhibition of paintings by Nikolay Glushchenko

September 6, 2013 at the Art Gallery was opened an exhibition by Nikolay Glushchenko (1901-1977). 42 presented works are from the collection of the Kharkov Art Museum.

Nikolay Glushchenko is an outstanding Ukrainian painter, People's Artist of the USSR, laureate of Taras Shevchenko National Prize. Born in September 17, 1901 in Novomoskovsk of Ekaterinoslavskaya province (now Dnipropetrovsk region). In 1918 he graduated from the for-profit institution in Yuzovka (now Donetsk).

From 1919 to 1921 he was engaged in a private studio school, teachers Gans Balushek and Kampf in Berlin. In 1920-1924 studied at the Berlin College of Fine Arts in Charlottenburg. In 1925 he moved to Paris, where he was influenced by the French impressionists: Monet, Degas, Matisse, V. Van Gogh. Nikolay Glushchenko worked in various genres of painting, but his favorite subject was a landscape. His painting is impressive, inherent and full of freedom of expression. Master paintings are in many Ukrainian and foreign museums and private collections.
