In honor of St. George's holiday Art-Memorial Museum of I.E. Repin and historian Artem Levchenko presented a cinema show "Magic lantern": hazy pictures from the history of military Chuguev.

Historical background

"Magic lantern" (lat. Laterna magica; magic lantern, fantaskop, skioptikon, lampascope, hazy pictures, etc.) is a device for the projection of the pictures widespread in everyday life in the XVII-XX, XIX centuries. It is a significant milestone in the history of cinema. Cinema shows of magic lantern were usually accompanied by singing and music or were commented by lecturer or narrator.
