Among unique, world-wide known products shawls occupy a particular place from an ancient town of Pavlovsky Posad.

For two centuries Pavlovian kerchief became a recognizable accessory of Russian costume, specific phenomenon of Russian culture and became widely known outside Russia.

The museum presents 31 shawls from Pavlovo Posad Shawl Manufactory which were donated to the museum in different years: 1985, 1986, 1999, 2000, 2005.

In 1981, the State Repin Prize got artists for creating drawings of shawls from Pavlovo Posad Shawl Manufactory: Semyon Petrovich Ryzhov, Ekaterina Petrovna Regunova, Zlata Aleksandrovna Olshevskaya, Irina Petrovna Dadonova, Viktor Ivanovich Zubritskiy.

In addition to the Repin State Prize laureates works our collection also includes works of authors of the same manufacture: Tatyana Pavlovna Sukharevskaya, Galina Ivanovna Sotskova, Elena Valentinovna Zhukova, Valeriya Borisovna Fadeyeva.

 

Brief information about the authors

Irina Petrovna Dadonova – Honored Artist of Russia, laureate of the State Repin Prize (1981), laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and art (1999). In 1962 she graduated from the Moscow Textile Institute, Faculty of Applied Arts.

Viktor Ivanovich Zubritskiy, born in 1946 – Honored Artist of Russia, laureate of the State Repin Prize (1981), laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and art (1999), laureate of the Governor Prize in Moscow region "For achievements in the field of culture and art" (2007). He is the main artist of the Pavlovo Posad Shawl Manufactory, chairman of the section of arts and crafts of the Moscow regional branch of the Union of Russian Artists.

Zlata Aleksandrovna Olshevskaya  – People's Artist of the Russian Federation and the laureate of the State Repin Prize (1981). According to the experts, shawls by Zlata Olszewskaya are unique and original. More than 80 of them are hand-painted.

Ekaterina Petrovna Regunova  Honored Artist of Russia, laureate of the State Repin Prize (1981).

Semen Petrovich Ryzhov  laureate of the State Repin Prize (1981). Born in 1916 in the village of  Makarovo, Moscow region. In 1938 he graduated from the Art-Industrial College named after M.I. Kalinin. In 1941 was called up to the army where served in the Baltic Fleet. During the Great Patriotic War defended Leningrade from the Nazi invaders. From 1938 to 1977 Semen Ryzhov worked at the Pavlovo Posad factory named after X anniversary of the Red Army. For forty years of work the artist made hundreds of drawings to the printed shawls and scarves, created a series of unique works.

Galina Ivanovna Sotskova – laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and art (1999). She was born in the Moscow region, city of Electrogorsk. She liked to draw since childhood. Finished from Fedoskino school of miniature painting. After school worked as an artist in the cup factory in Moscow. At the Pavlovo Posad Shawl Manufactory works since 1980.

Elena Valentinovna Zhukova – the artist of Pavlovo Posad Shawl Manufactory, member of the Union of Russian Artists and Union of Russian Designers. In 1983 she graduated from the Ivanovo College of Art and Industrial Design, department "Art and coloristic fabrics decoration and knitwear".

Tatyana Pavlovna Suharevskaya – laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and art (1999). Born in the city of Arzamas-16 (Sarov), now Nizhny Novgorod region in a family of scientists. Since childhood she loved to draw and from the age of six years was engaged in drawing and painting studio, took part in exhibitions and awarded on the basis of exhibitions. In 1982 she entered the Moscow School of Industrial Art named after M.I. Kalinin. After graduating from college in 1987 she worked on Pavlovo Posad Shawl Manufactory.

Valeriya Borisovna Fadeeva – laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and art (1999).
